Thank you for an interesting post. I would have voted Reform if I could have. The Conservative government had made itself unelectable: where else were we to go?

I can also understand the woman who was torn between Reform and Green, however contradictory that may appear.

I can understand how let down people felt and that many were voting against us, rather than directly for something else. I felt that coming into the campaign but was surprised how little policy seemed to matter. For some people, perhaps it was less a vote against us but a vote for change and they were less concerned by what that change was - they just felt one was needed? Now, for me, it’s about rebuilding faith in the party and we have to accept that may not be a short journey. Trust is hard to earn but easily lost.

Enlightening read Richard.

I can only imagine after 6 weeks of foot slogging and interacting with potential voters how disappointing the result must have been to you. I think you can satisfy yourself you 'left it all out there' campaigning hard.

This election as you allude had very different factors afoot to a 'normal' election ones which are unlikely to be repeated for a generation. Unfortunately politics at a national level did for you with voters losing trust in the mandate given to Boris Johnson which was wasted. Unfortunately no matter how good you would have been for Waveney the die was cast against you via national politics.

The Conservative Party needs to reflect on the result and change to listen to the rump of traditional voters that deserted it for not listening to them.

Your time will come again.

I look forward to you standing again when local

Thanks, Perry. I’m determined to give it another go. It all feels a long way off but the party needs time to rebuild and regain trust, I hope I can be a part of that.
